CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A prominent Chicago-based company is on the move.
According to a Wall-Street Journal report, jet manufacturer Boeing is expected to move its headquarters to Arlington, VA.
The new headquarters, the report said, would allow company executives to be closer to government influencers in Washington D.C.
Boeing has been headquartered in Chicago since 2001, having moved from its founding city, Seattle, just days before the Sept. 11 attacks.
Mayor Lightfoot noted that Boeing will still “maintain a presence in Chicago” and insisted the city remains an attractive option to corporations.
“What remains to be true is that Chicago is a major hub for global corporations that recognize our diverse workforce, expansive infrastructure, and thriving economy,” she said in a prepared statement Thursday.
