CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A 7-year-old boy was found safe Thursday afternoon, a day after police say he was abducted by his mother on the Near West Side.
The boy, Massiah Vaughn, had been taken by his mother, Lorraine Smith, around 4 p.m. Wednesday from the 1300 block of South Damen Avenue.
Smith, who isn't Vaughn's legal guardian, was armed with a gun at the time of the abduction, according to police.
Chicago police released no details on how the boy was found or whether the mother would face charges.
