CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two brothers are being held on $250,000-bond, accused of criminal abuse or neglect of their 73-year old mother.

Craig Chapman, 43, and his 42-year old brother, Keith, are in the Will County Jail.

According to Plainfield police, the brothers had lived with their mother, Mary Ellen Chapman, and identified themselves as her caregiver.

But when Plainfield paramedics and police responded to a report of an elderly person in need of medical attention back in March, they found the 73-year-old woman in a bed covered with various bodily fluids and she appeared malnourished.

Chapman died shortly after being taken to a hospital.

Police said that while she had been given some food by her sons, she had not had any medical care in the months before she died.
