(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Illinois is setting records when it comes to the creation of new businesses, with numbers significantly higher than they were before the start of the COVID pandemic.
A report from state government says Illinois led the Midwest last year in the creation of new businesses and had the highest rate among the eight most populous states.
Jack Lavin of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce credits dozens of small business incubators in Chicago as well as state programs that support new ventures.
Gov. JB Pritzker said the rate of new business creation in Illinois is now about 70% higher than it was before the start of the COVID pandemic.
