(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Cardinal Blase Cupich is praising a planned gun buyback event that’s going to be held this month in the northern suburbs.
Cardinal Cupich notes in a letter that parishes in the city have held a number of gun buyback events and that he’s happy to see that will be extended to Lake County with an April 29 buyback event at Most Blessed Trinity Parish in Waukegan.
Cupich says he’s donating from his personal account to help buy back dozens of guns. He’s encouraging others to donate money so more guns can be bought back.
The cardinal says thousands of guns have been taken off city streets with these events.
