GURNEE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Criminal charges have been filed following the beating last week of a ride operator at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee.

The ride operator accidentally bumped into a passenger on the platform of a roller coaster, according to police. That person and two friends became irate and attacked the 19- year- old, hitting him and throwing objects at him before running away and leaving the park.

The employee was treated at the park for minor injuries. Police later identified and arrested the three suspects, which included a 14-year- old girl from Chicago, a 17- year- old girl from Skokie, and Adrian Ortiz, an 18-year-old male from Chicago.

The Daily Herald reports the juveniles were referred to juvenile court for mob action and battery. Ortiz was charged with battery causing bodily harm.
