(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A hazmat spill on I-55 prompted an emergency cleanup that closed much of the Stevenson Expressway in the southwest suburbs for several hours.

According to Illinois State Police, a disabled semi on the right shoulder began to leak hydrogen peroxide from its trailer shortly after 8 a.m. at LaGrange Road.

By 5 p.m., all inbound lanes had reopened. Only the far right lane was closed on the outbound expressway.

No injuries were reported.
