(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The heat wave is having an impact on some schools in the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana.
Banneker Elementary in the Miller Beach section of Gary sent kids home early Monday when the A/C went out. They’ll be out of classes again today. Outdoor athletics have been canceled too.
Lyons Township High School is also on an early dismissal. Students will be sent home at 11:30 a.m.
Ottawa Township High School is also letting students out early, at 12:10pm., after lunch.
