Chicago Auto Show is increasingly electric

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago Auto Show is a month away, and electric vehicles are expected to be more in the spotlight than ever.

The event will again be both an indoor and outdoor show, with ride-and-drives and the return of Chicago Drives Electric, an area dedicated to electric vehicle test drives and education.

“We started with two brands. Last year, there were five brands. This year, there are eight different brands,” David Sloan, general manager of the Chicago Auto Show, told WBBM Newsradio on Tuesday.

Visitors to the EV hub can learn about at-home charging, “range anxiety,” maintenance and EV ownership costs.

The Chicago Auto Show runs Feb. 10-19 at McCormick Place.

A black-tie charity gala will be held the evening of Friday Feb. 9.
