Chicago man charged in fatal road rage shooting on I-80

NEW LENOX (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Illinois State Police have announced charges in the road rage shooting death of a Joliet man on I-80 earlier this week.

Forty-Five-year-old Phillip E. Rogers of Chicago has been charged with first degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Illinois State Police said he was found and arrested after a shooting on I-80 near I-355 in New Lenox that followed a road rage incident and crash Monday evening.

Thirty-year-old Lenier Clayton of Joliet was shot and died at the hospital.

His family said police told them he was shot multiple times as he and the other driver got out to look at the damage.

State Police encourage the public not to engage with aggressive drivers and call 911 to report road rage.
