(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police this week arrested a 22-year-old Chicago man who allegedly robbed a postal carrier earlier this year.

Deandre Davis of Rogers Park has been charged with armed robbery. Chicago police and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service say he’s the person who robbed a 36-year-old letter carrier at gunpoint March 20 near Devon and Hoyne in the West Ridge community.

Last month, local unions representing letter carriers went to Washington to ask for more protections, saying their members don’t feel safe amid a string of armed robberies.

Postal inspectors say the public can report any tips to 877-876-2455.
