(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Chicago man suspected of murder led police in Ohio on a high-speed chase Sunday. It ended with officers shooting and hospitalizing the man.

It happened shortly after 1:30 p.m., officials said. Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) officers spotted a Chrysler Pacifica traveling south on Interstate 75 — the driver of which was believed to be Danny Berry, a 45-year-old man wanted for murder in Chicago.

Officers attempted to pull Berry over, but OSHP said Berry continued driving along the highway. After a chase, police deployed stop sticks. Berry eventually stopped the vehicle in a median, where it caught fire.

Berry was accused of getting out of the car with a handgun and walking on the highway, at which point officials said a trooper shot him. No officers were injured.

No details about which agency the shooting officer belonged to were provided.

The Chicagoan was taken by ambulance to a hospital with serious injuries, OSHP said.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been asked to investigate the shooting.
