The Chicago Housing Authority celebrated hundreds of its residents on May 6 with an early Mother's Day makeover experience.
"I'm just having the time of my life," said one mom.
She was one of more than 200 CHA moms receive a full makeover in honor of Mother's Day.
"That includes before and after photos, and in between a free dress from Banana Republic, free hairstyling, lashes brows, just a day to make them feel special," said Kristen Hamer, Director of Corporate and External Partnerships at the Chicago Housing Authority.
Hamer said the entire experience is free and meant to empower the moms who may not get the chance to pamper themselves.
"This is my first time having a makeover," said Donna Ousley. She is a mother and grandmother and said the experience is giving her a new sense of confidence.
"Women need to feel empowered and when you look good you feel good," Ousley said.
Lakina Mabins said she was just feeling grateful to be celebrated.
"Sometimes we don't take time for ourselves," she said. "We just mom, mom, mom all the time. We put the kids first and forget about ourselves. So, it's nice to be able to enjoy something nice."
