CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago Park District has already begun looking for workers to fill more than 2,500 jobs this summer.
Last year, the park district waited until spring to begin recruiting for summer jobs.
Rebecca Brandtman is a senior project manager, who hopes to reach a wider pool of candidates and reduce the number of open jobs the park district has this summer.
"We have close to over 20 different titles throughout the summer and we wanted to make sure we have time to fill all of them," she said.
The Chicago Park District is looking for people 16 years of age and older to fill summer jobs. Open positions include lifeguards, leaders for recreational programs, and maintenence workers.
In addition to high school and college students, the park district is encouraging older adults to apply especially retirees.
