(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Demonstrators in Chicago on Tuesday demanded the Biden administration put a stop to the longest embargo in American history: the sanctions against Cuba.
The activists said the U.S. embargo against Cuba should have stopped decades ago.
One of those who stood up to speak was Carelia Drake, a Cuban American clearly upset that her homeland is suffering so much now. She said she is angry because the U.S. and its embargo are largely responsible.
“I am 63 years old. I was born with embargo. I have been living with embargo. And they want to kill me with embargo,” she said.
The people assembled in Federal Plaza laid the blame on America — and the Biden administration — for not abandoning the longtime strategy.
The Chicago event comes as there are mass demonstrations in Cuba.
