CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The City is planning the first of the Mayor's migrant tent cities on the Southwest Side, and local representatives aren't happy about it.

The City reportedly signed a $91,400-a-month deal to lease the land in Brighton Park on October 26, before an environmental assessment was completed.

Twelfth Ward Ald. Julia Ramirez said the City signed the lease without her knowledge and called on City officials to explain why she and community members were not notified.

The lease comes amid health and environmental concerns about the site.

City officials said the environmental assessments began last week and all the necessary samples have been collected.
