Chicago Sky coach to step down

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago Sky coach James Wade will be stepping down from his position and will be pursuing another opportunity, according to an announcement from the team.

Wade, who was General Manager and Head coach has accepted a position with the NBA Toronto Raptors as Assistant Coach.

“We are thrilled that James can fulfill a lifelong dream to join the NBA, and we send him our warmest congratulations and best wishes,” Sky Principal Owner Michael Alter said in a statement.

“We thank James for establishing a winning, team-oriented culture in Chicago and leading the Sky to our first ever WNBA Championship in 2021.”

Emre Vatansever has been named Interim General Manager and Head Coach as the team's management is "committed to a seamless transition and successful 2023 season."
