(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Chicago resident is poised to play in the world championship for women’s flag football later this year.

Megan Majors is thrilled she made the roster for the USA Football women’s national team.

“There’s never a guarantee,” she tells WBBM Newsradio.

She speaks from experience.  The 31-year-old made the team in 2021 while continuing to play in her South Side co-ed rec league before tearing her Achilles.

Don’t call it a comeback, yet. Majors must still prove herself at a training camp this summer to make the final 12-woman roster that will compete at the world championships in Finland this August.

Majors played basketball and ran track at Robert Morris before switching her focus to flag football in 2017. She is a defensive back and wide receiver.
