CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The first meeting of Chicago’s Committee on Design had the panel of experts critiquing a development planned for the Fulton Market District.

The Committee on Design, an independent panel of architects, artists, real estate professionals, and academics, considered a project that includes a park, a residential tower, and office building from developer Trammell Crow.

"We are proud of the work we've done and are fortunate to collaborate with such talented partners," said Principal Johnny Carlson, who gave a presentation, and panelists offered praise and made suggestions for changes.

Architect Jeanne Gang was among them.

"The question is really about assigning the parking and trying to use the parking as a strategic element on the site," she said.

The first meeting of the group lasted two and a half hours. They took a pretty deep dive into design elements of the two projects.

The public is invited to engage in these meetings.
