(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The list of states on the city of Chicago’s Travel Advisory has grown to 14, amid a surge in coronavirus cases nationwide linked to the Delta Variant.

Public Health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady on Tuesday announced the newest states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Kansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Wyoming.

Any unvaccinated people traveling from these areas are advised to get a negative COVID-19 test result no more than 72 hours prior to arrival in Chicago; or, upon arrival, they’re urged to quarantine for a 10-day period.

Arwady said she expects the city of Chicago to move to a "moderate" coronavirus risk within the next few days -- just as Lollapalooza begins in Grant Park.

"I can’t promise that there won’t be any Covid cases associated with Lolla. When you’re having this many folks who are coming through, almost certainly there will be some cases," she said.
