Children seriously injured in separate Wednesday hit-and-run accidents: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago Police are investigating separate car vs. pedestrian hit-and-run incidents that occurred Wednesday, leaving two children in critical condition.

The first accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. near 124th and Lowe, in the West Pullman neighborhood.

According to police, A 20-year-old woman and a 9-year-old boy were hit by an SUV. The man who was driving sped away.

The boy, who had a serious leg injury, was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, initially listed in critical condition. The woman was in fair condition with an abrasion to her face.

The second incident happened roughly three hours later, at about 7:15 p.m. on the 100 block of North Menard in the Austin Neighborhood.

A 12-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street. He too had serious injuries and was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. Like the other accident, police said  the driver did not stop.

Both incidents are under investigation.
