CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The first Sunday church services since the state lifted all COVID-19 restrictions meant larger crowds at some places of worship.

At Our Lady of Ransom in Niles, some parishioners celebrated the end to reservations and masks at mass.

“Oh, it feels wonderful. I feel like I’m born again — I’m a born again Christian. No, it feels very good,” one parishioner told WBBM Newsradio.

A greeter at the catholic church said the crowd was bigger and Phase 5 meant the return of holy water fonts.

Meanwhile, Hope Community Bible Church in Park Ridge has been holding in person services since last may.  Senior Pastor Chuck Mironas said most of their members have been attending… but he could see others return

People want that and people felt the need to have absolution by the government in order to worship. Then, I feel, maybe there will be some people who will return,” Mironas said.
