CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The city is taking a step towards calming overnight rowdiness on a major Near North Side street.
According to 2nd Ward Ald. Brian Hopkins, the Chicago Department of Transportation will start putting up sign letting people know that starting soon in the next three weeks.
Overnight parking without a permit on Clark Street between Division and North Avenue will no longer be allowed. The alderman said residents requested the overnight parking restrictions to him late last summer because of criminal behavior that was going on in the late night hours especially on weekends.
Hopkins said the behavior includes illegal drinking parties that take place out of cars on the public way and "loitering narcotics activity."
Vehicles parked without Zone 74 permits between 10 p.m. - 6 a.m. will be subject to citation and removal by police.
