Concealed carry holder confronts suspect trying to break into his South Shore home: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Gunfire erupted during a home invasion on the South Side overnight.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. in the South Shore neighborhood.

Chicago Police said a 30-year-old man forced his way into an apartment complex near 71st and Jeffery. A 29-year-old man inside the residence then shot the intruder in the leg with a handgun.

Officials said he has a concealed carry license.

The suspect was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center where he’s expected to recover.

Area One detectives are investigating.
