CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Days after a devastating fire at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, celebrants gathered at Callahan Funeral Home a few blocks away to celebrate Easter.
In the wake of a terrible fire, there is a feeling of joy from members of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, who moved a few blocks away to Callahan Funeral Home for a celebration of Easter.
"When I was watching the church burning-I saw it on the news, I felt like my house was burning," one congregant told WBBM.
The congregants raised their hands, saying "Praise the Lord"- showing more than anything appreciation, thanks, gratitude and joy to be with each other on a beautiful but chilly Easter morning.
"There are a lot of emotions. There's a lot of pain and grief, but there is hope, because that's what this day is all about," said another member of the church.
Donations are already coming in for the church.
The cause of the fire has been deemed an accident. Investigators said a blowtorch that was being used on roof repairs, which caused the blaze.
