CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A bill before Congress could give a much-needed financial boost to Minor League Baseball teams.

Minor league teams had big financial losses because of last year's season being canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and some still haven't recovered fully.

As a result, Congress is considering something called the "Minor League Baseball Relief Act."

It would provide $550 million to help financially struggling Minor league teams.

One of the bill's supporters is Indiana Rep. Jackie Walorski, who hopes the measure will give a much-needed financial shot in the arm to the South Bend Cubs.
