Cook County corrections employee charged with murder outside Niles nightclub

NILES (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Cook County Department of Corrections employee is charged with murder after allegedly shooting an acquaintance over the weekend in Niles.

Alan Kettina, a 25-year-old Northbrook resident, was at the Miraj nightclub on Milwaukee Avenue when he and 22-year-old Mark Asber, of Niles, had a verbal altercation in the parking lot.

Police said Kettina pulled a gun and shot Asber. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

It happened at about 1 a.m. on Sunday.

Kettina stayed at the scene and police said he was immediately taken into custody. He’s now charged with first degree murder.
