CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The head of the Cook County Board now hopes to have the County help Chicago feed migrants as well as keep them healthy.

Up to now, the primary help Chicago has been getting from Cook County for the migrant crisis has been providing healthcare. It leads those services.

But, County Board President Toni Preckwinkle said there’s enough emergency money left to help Chicago pay for food for new arrivals.

“We have $100 million in our disaster relief and emergency fund Of that $100 million, $70 million will be allocated to support the City for its food and shelter costs,” Preckwinkle said.

County commissioners are expected to vote for the aid next month, but Preckwinkle said she’s already discussed this with them.
