(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The Cook County Sheriff's Office is putting out the "Help Wanted" sign, hosting a mass hiring event this weekend.

Sheriff Tom Dart on Thursday said everyone is struggling to find workers, not just law enforcement, because potential employees have more expectations than in year's past.

Dart's office has about 500 open positions that officials will be talking about Saturday at Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, 809 E 42nd Place, in Chicago. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The sheriff said for some there is still a lingering unease about working for law enforcement following the COVID pandemic and the civil unrest that occurred during that period.
