(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The NBA could wind up with an old broadcast partner, but it's more than an exercise in nostalgia.
Composer John Tesh provided the musical accompaniment to the 1990's Chicago Bulls dynasty. Twenty years after the NBA left for ABC and ESPN, the theme song to the NBA on NBC conjures up memories of 90's basketball.
A number of reports suggest NBC will jump into the fray when the NBA's broadcast and streaming deals are up for bid in 2024.
Tim Hanlon, founder of the Vertere Group in Chicago tells the WBBM Noon Business Hour that the bidding will be competitive, because the NBA is one of the few professional sports leagues with worldwide appeal.
"It's probably a very small group of entities- the NFL, certainly soccer and the NBA that have sort of these gigantic international value."
Other potential bidders could include Amazon and Apple.
