CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago police shot and killed a man during a call early Friday morning in Little Village.
Officers were responding to a call of a person with a knife inside a sixth floor apartment near 21st and Sacramento when the department said they were confronted by a man as they knocked on the door.
It was shortly after 2 a.m. at the CHA-run Albany Terrace Apartments, and police said the man came at officers. An unspecified number of officers fired their weapons, hitting the man multiple times.
The department said they treated the man and transported him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No officers were hurt, but two were transported for observation.
The officers involved will be put on desk duty as the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) investigates.
The Cook County Medical Examiner said the man is 57-years-old.
