Chicago Public Schools announced the launch of its Summer Meals and LunchStop Programs, which will assist students and families throughout the summer break.

Beginning today, June 27, the district will offer free, nutritious meals at various locations, as it has done in the past.

“We know that hunger does not go away when school doors close,” said CPS CEO Pedro Martinez. “The summer months can be difficult for families who count on our School Nutrition Program and so we’re excited to once again offer a variety of nutritious meals to help alleviate any stress and keep our students healthy and ready to learn as they return to school in late August.”

CPS will also provide free meals at outdoor school locations for children ages one to 18 - even if they are not enrolled as CPS students. These LunchStop locations are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. The program will run June 27 through August 12. An ID is not required to participate.

Locations for the LunchStop program can be found at this website.

Anyone wishing the participate can also text "FOOD" or "COMIDA" to 304-304 and type in a zip code to find nearby locations.
