CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A convenience store in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood was damaged during an extra alarm fire early Tuesday morning.

Crews extinguished the fire near Thorndale and Winthrop by about 3:15am. While it damaged the Thorndale Mart convenience store and another first floor space near the Red Line EL stop, the fire department said they were able to keep it from spreading to apartments on the second floor.

The department is investigating the cause and says there were no injuries.
