CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Hundreds of marchers took to Chicago’s Loop Wednesday afternoon to protest the Israeli government amid escalating conflict between the U.S. ally and Palestinians in Gaza.
The march began at Ida B. Wells Drive and Michigan Avenue and moved north, with the size of the protest growing, WBBM Newsradio's Rachel Pierson reports. Chicago police monitored the demonstration, which was expected to end at the Israeli Consulate in the West Loop.
The event was organized by the U.S. Palestinian Community Network. Marchers held signs sympathetic to Palestinians.
A representative for the Jewish United Fund tells WBBM Newsradio that it stands with Israel, noting that violence directed at the country threatens people of all religions there.
