CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The CTA is adding extra train service on the Blue Line, expanding “short turn” runs between O'Hare and UIC-Halsted from its current added service during morning and afternoon commutes to now running short turned trains on the Blue Line throughout the entire day.

CTA spokesperson Catherine Hosinski tells WBBM that the trains, leaving from O'Hare, will turn around at the UIC-Halsted station and then head back in the direction of the airport.

This extra effort is to account for increased ridership and to prevent overcrowding as some commuters are anticipated to begin riding the train to work rather than drive the Kennedy Expressway during long- term reconstruction.
