CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - CTA commuters will not have to wait as long for buses thanks to a new plan the agency is rolling out later this month.

The launch of "Frequent Network" aims to increase reliability and improve frequency of CTA buses.

The plan includes increasing service so that buses arrive  every 10 minutes or sooner on 20 key bus routes. The agency says this means riders won't have to wait as long for the next bus if they miss one.

The first phase of the rollout will include eight routes on the South Side, including those on 79th Street, 47th Street, Cicero Avenue and a portion of Michigan Avenue on the Far South Side.
