
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago Police are conducting a death investigation following the discovery of a body in Lake Michigan.
The Chicago Fire Department said late Thursday morning a person was found in the water near Ardmore, off of Hollywood Beach.
The unidentified man appeared to be in his 30s or 40s, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled.
Local first responders have been called to Lake Michigan multiple times in recent weeks. On Wednesday night, a 6-year-old boy was rescued from the water at Montrose Beach. He was initially listed in critical condition.
Less than two weeks ago, a severed arm was found along the shores of Lake Michigan in Waukegan. Authorities in Milwaukee were awaiting DNA test results to see if the arm was a match to other remains of a 19-year-old woman was killed and dismembered in April.
Chicago Park District beaches will not open until Friday.
