If you order food from one west suburban restaurant chances are it will be delivered by World War II Navy veteran Joe Greenberg, who has no intention of slowing down.

That's despite his turning 95 on Wednesday.

"I'm fortunate. I mean I realize not a lot of people reach this age," he told WBBM Newsradio's Rachel Pierson. "I don't have aches, I don't have pains and I still have, let's say, at least 75% of my brain left."

Greenberg has been affiliated with the Little Traveler restaurant in Geneva for more than 50 years.

"He still works full-time," owner Mike Simon said. "He's the first one in in the morning and turns on the lights. He's the last one out at night turning off the lights. In between, he does everything from taking care of customers to changing light bulbs."

Greenberg enjoys his interactions with customers in the region and considers it a blessing to be able to do the work. Don't bother suggesting that he retire.

"Somebody said, 'When will you retire?' I said if they burn the Traveler down, I'd probably go down with the Traveler," Greenberg said.

He planned to mark his near-century milestone with his daughter and his significant other.

"I think they've got a Zoom party planned for me, too," Greenberg said.
