SPRINGFIELD (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Thursday, Illinois Republicans will respond to what the Democrats had to say on their political day at the fair Wednesday.

“Look at who is winning these primaries on the Republican side,” said secretary of state candidate Alexi Giannoulias, a former state treasurer. “They are crazy as hell and are saying and doing the craziest stuff imaginable. My fear is that if these individuals get elected, we will be seeing January 6 on a weekly basis.

“We cannot let that happen.”

Changes in 2022 included moving the Democrats’ brunch from an interstate hotel to the downtown convention center; and constructing a new pavilion and stage on the fairgrounds’ Director’s Lawn, where Chris Young put on a free concert.

The political days at the fair are Wednesday and Thursday, with the party holding the governor’s office going first.
