
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A theater undergoing renovations in the northwestern suburbs should be open later this summer.
The Des Plaines Theatre is undergoing a $6-million renovation. The Daily Herald reported entertainment producer Ron Onesti said the theater and its two restaurants should be opening at the same time in August.
In 2018, the city of Des Plaines bought the building that houses the theater and the restaurants for more than $1 million as a way to spark downtown business. The theater was to have opened last year but COVID-19.
The Des Plaines Theatre first opened in 1925 with live performances.
