(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Rosemont’s mayor confirms the village will soon have its own Portillo’s – for pick up and drive-thru orders only -- that should be attractive to locals and travelers going into and out of O’Hare International Airport.
Under a project reported by the Daily Herald, the 3,500-square-foot restaurant famous for its hot dogs, Italian beef and chocolate cake will occupy the northwest corner of Manheim and Higgins.
Village officials agreed this week turn over the land to a private developer, and Portillo’s will sign a long-term lease.
There will be no dining room for the Rosemont Portillo’s, which is designed for efficiency and busy traffic near the air hub. It’s similar to a pickup-only Portillo’s in Joliet, Rosemont Brad Stephens says.
The Rosemont restaurant is expected to open by year’s end. Mayor Stephens says Rosemont is becoming a location for desirable eateries like Small Cheval, Stan’s Donuts and Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken.
