Man in wheelchair struck by driver, who fled scene: Mount Prospect police

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police are investigating after a man in a wheelchair was struck by a driver in Mount Prospect earlier this week.

The man was attempting to cross cross Elmhurst Road near Huntington Commons Road around 2 p.m. Wednesday when he was hit by a black Chevrolet that sustained front-end damage.

The driver did not stop, witnesses told police. The wheelchair user was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with serious injuries, Mount Prospect police said in a news release.

The Chevrolet and driver were located in an apartment complex shortly after the crash, police said.

The Mount Prospect Police Department Major Crash Investigation Team is currently investigating.

No further information was available.
