PALATINE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An inbound Metra train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line hit a vehicle near Brockway and Slade streets in Palatine just before 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
When first responders arrived, they found debris littering the ground, but the driver and vehicle were nowhere to be found.
Fire officials told the Arlington Cardinal News the incident is a confirmed hit-and-run crash.
No injuries were reported but according to Metra, there were significant delays on both inbound and outbound trains.
The crash is now under investigation.
