NORTHFIELD (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A driver was killed during the Tuesday morning rush following a crash on the outbound Edens Expressway.
According to Illinois State Police, the single-car accident occurred at around 7:10 a.m., in the outbound lanes, just north of Winnetka Road. Troopers arrived at the scene and found a car had hit a concrete barrier.
The driver was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died.
WBBM traffic reporter Beau Duran says footage from the scene suggests something went through the windshield and struck the driver before the vehicle hit the wall.
Illinois State Police continue to investigate.
