There's a new junior deputy in the DuPage County Sheriff's Department.

He’s a 7-year-old boy named James from Elmhurst.

According to a post on Facebook, he called the sheriff's office himself and said he was born to be a police officer. He said he would be stopping by to be sworn in. And he was by Sheriff James Mendrick.

James saluted the sheriff and shook his hand. He was given a certificate identifying him as a junior deputy.
