DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The DuPage County Clerk is praising her office’s new system that allowed people to vote at any polling place they liked on Tuesday.

DuPage County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek said her office hasn’t had a chance to break down the numbers to know specifically how well Vote Anywhere worked, but she says that from an anecdotal standpoint with election judges and voters, it seems to have been a success.

“I heard that people were at work or school and instead of rushing home, they were just stopping by the polling place that was nearest to them at that time.”

Kaczmarek said the Hart Verity voting system was what allowed Vote Anywhere. Election judges are able to print out ballots on-the-spot for any voter no matter where they live in DuPage County.

DuPage had the highest voter turnout in the Chicago area this election at just under 22 percent. Of the 636,000 registered voters in the county, 139,673 cast ballots in the primary.
