CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Edgewater residents may be able to get an update about the police investigation into the fatal shooting of a Senn High School student two weeks ago during a community meeting taking place Tuesday night.
The Community Safety Meeting at Philadelphia Church is expected to have members of the Lincoln and Rogers Park Police Districts there, as well as members of the local police councils.
Local Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth (48th) announced the 6 p.m. meeting and said the community continues to mourn the loss of 16-year-old Daveon Gibson.
Gibson was killed, and two other Senn students were wounded in a shooting that took place just blocks from the school.
A GoFundMe campaign for Daveon met its goal and describes him as a kind and respectful role model. On the day he was killed, the GoFundMe organizers said he helped one of his younger brothers get ready for picture day at school.
