EVANSTON, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- In Evanston, McCormick Boulevard is closed through the morning rush between Golf Road and Bridge Street while police investigate a murder.

Evanston police received a call shortly after 9:00 p.m. Thursday night about shots fired in a park along the North Shore Channel in the 2100 block of McCormick.

They found a man there who had been shot more than once and was dead. Police say the early indication is that the man had had a confrontation with an unknown number of people beforehand. The shooters ran off and because of that Evanston police had asked that residents remain in their homes for several hours. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identifies the victim as 29-year old Servando Hamros.
