EVANSTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A social media post has gotten an Evanston Township High School student in trouble.

Evanston police said the 14-year-old boy has been charged with disorderly conduct after the department received a tip of a social media threat on Tuesday. In the post, the boy posed with what appeared to be a gun, with the written caption: “can’t wait 4 eths 2 blow up.”

Police learned through their investigation that the handgun in the photo was not real. A prop gun was being used in the boy’s English class during a lesson about “Romeo & Juliet”, the school resource officer said.

The student will appear in juvenile court.
