CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Field Museum is about to open a new exhibit called Unseen Oceans, taking visitors on a tour of the depths of the seas.
Visitors walking into Unseen Oceans may feel a little discombobulated. A projection gives the impression you’re walking among waves on a shore and soon you’re at the “Fishnado.”
Marie Georg is a senior Exhibition Developer.
"Oh, the Fishnado is fun," she said. "It's a giant sculptural element of fish and sea life that fluoresce."
Georg added that visitors can walk up the structure and see a "swirl of fish" above.
The exhibit features the research of Dr. Janet Voight. She’s an Associate Curator and an octopus expert.
"The most exciting thing is getting to be on the bottom of the ocean and see things that, you know, nobody in the world has ever seen..like one of the things is just a little hill and it's got 100 octopuses brooding their heads," she explained.
"Who knew?" Footage from Voight's dives is part of the exhibit, which opens to the public on March 15.
